Original Poetry / Poetry

We were late
as per usual.
I wore a white dress
and black shoes crossed at the ankles.
Your tie was black
Your shirt was crisp
Your hair, a mess.
Stopping suddenly,
the car lurched forward.
You slapped your forehead and said,
“oh my god!
I forgot to tell you how beautiful you look.”
